Walnut Burl - Juglans nigra

Walnut Burl is not a different specie of walnut.  Instead when walnut trees develop new branches and divide the area of division undergoes significant stress causing the grain to weave through the tree rather than travel in a single direction.  This shift in grain direction can produce beautiful figured grain pattern.
