Gaboon Ebony - Diospyros crassiflora

Ebony is usually jet-black, with little to no variation or visible grain. Occasionally dark brown or grayish-brown streaks may be present.  The grain is usually fine even texture with a smooth surface.  Gaboon Ebony is among the most expensive of all available lumbers and normally only used for small ornamental items.  

Origin:  Equatorial West Africa
