Curly Cherry - Prunus serotina

Cherry is a light pinkish brown when freshly cut, darkening to a medium reddish brown with time and upon exposure to light.  This stunning wavy pattern is caused by the tree experiencing some sort of stress during the course of its life.  The direction of the grain changes direction during this time weaving through the tree rather than growing straight.  Common Uses include  cabinetry, fine furniture, flooring, and interior millwork.
